Supervision, Consulting & Collaborating with Meg
Fellow Professionals: Therapists, Allied Health Professionals & Yoga Teachers
There are few things I love more than connecting with fellow professionals. Whether you’re a Psychologist, Psychotherapist of Counsellor looking for a clinical supervisor, an allied health professional keen to get some peer supervision arranged for yourself or your team, need an expert guest for your blog, podcast, conference presentation or yoga teacher training - I’m glad you're here, and hope we’ll be able to collaborate!
I’m a Clinical Psychologist and Yoga Teacher with several years experience providing psychological therapy for complex trauma, persistent pain and medically unexplained symptoms, in both public and private sectors - whilst simultaneously teaching yoga and meditation. I am a part of an inspiring network of skilful trauma and pain care providers, as well as yoga teacher and yoga therapists, in Geelong, the Surf Coast, across Australia and the globe. I love meeting new people and hearing about your work.
This work is my life’s calling, and I deeply believe in the power of collaboration over competition. It would be my absolute pleasure to work with you and support your work in the world, in any way I can.
Professional Offerings
There are so many ways we can work together:
Clinical Supervision
I am a Psychology Board-Approved Supervisor, and can provide Clinical Supervision to registered Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Counsellors. Clinical Supervision is an ongoing structured professional relationship in which I can support the development of the your practice, especially in the focus areas of trauma, pain and somatic complaints. Clinical Supervision can become one of the most important and sacred of our professional relationships, a place where you can bring not only your clinical questions but your personal reflections from the deep care you provide your clients. The focus areas that I can offer Clinical Supervision around include:
Trauma
Are you looking to deepen your knowledge of complex trauma, attachment dynamics, and dissociation? I am passionate about supporting practitioners to improve the structure of the trauma therapy they are offering their clients, as well as integrate advanced techniques, to enhance therapy outcomes for their clients.
Persistent Pain
I have extensive training, experience and expertise supporting people with persistent pain, in both public and private settings. I teach supervisees about pain science, how to work with the distress and mental health issues that naturally occur when people are burdened by pain, as well as ideas for how to help your clients to reconnect with their bodies without fear.
Somatic Complaints
As therapists, few of us get training in the language of the body and nervous system. Pain is the most common somatic complaints people have - whether it brings them to therapy or exists on the periphery of what did. There are many other somatic complaints (physical symptoms that can occur with or without a clear medical cause) that our clients have that can really confuse us. I can help to demystify and up-skill your understanding of somatic complaints including scope of practice issues, somatic techniques, precautions to take and further resources and training recommendations you might benefit from.
You can read more about my approach to Clinical Supervision below in the Important to Know section. Clinical Supervision is available in-person on Fridays at Yoga Farm, or more flexible arrangements may able to be negotiated if you are seeking to solely engage via Telehealth. Please feel welcome to email me to arrange a brief phone call to discuss your options for clinical supervision with me.
Peer Supervision
Peer Supervision is a structured professional discussion between practitioners on a collegial basis, sometimes individually but often as a facilitated peer group discussion. I am passionate about facilitating interdisciplinary peer group supervision to fellow therapists and allied health practitioners. Having spent my career working in a multidisciplinary team, I understand some of the unique challenges that diverse groups in the caring and health professions face - often alone and without a supportive supervisory structures in place. I am especially interested in supporting practitioners who work with people with trauma, persistent pain and somatic complaints. I am able to facilitate individual and peer group supervision to work through cases, engage in reflective practice and psychologically up-skill your practice - whilst all staying within our distinct scopes of practice.
I can provide peer supervision individually (if that feels like a more appropriate fit for you than clinical supervision), or I can facilitate peer group supervision via Telehealth, or come to your practice to meet with you and your team. Please feel welcome to email me to arrange a brief phone call to discuss your needs and peer supervision options with me.
Case Consultations
A Case Consultation is a one-off or occasional consultation on a specific matter, without an ongoing supervisory relationship. You might be seeking support to understand your client’s trauma, persistent pain or medically unexplained symptom and how best to work within your therapeutic skill set, or how to safely implement advanced therapeutic techniques you want to try.
A case consult is also a great way to try out if we are a good supervisory fit, before committing to a more structured arrangement such as clinical supervision or arranging interdisciplinary peer group supervision with me.
Blog and Podcast Guesting
Trauma and pain have become hot topics! I have over a decade of experience blogging and have been a guest on several podcasts. This podcast about endometriosis and persistent pelvic pain was one of my favourites - have a listen to my conversation with Jaya.
I love to write and talk about the things that I am passionate about. I’d be honoured to write for or speak to you and your audience. Please don’t hesitate to contact me to discuss your guesting idea with me.
Consulting and Professional Training
I have experience providing clinical and research presentations at hospital grand rounds, teaching into university postgraduate training (on persistent pain), and presenting at professional meetings and symposiums, including the Pelvic Pain Victoria Symposium.
I also have experience providing in-house guest training in yoga studios, regarding trauma-sensitive yoga teaching. If you are interested in my clinical consulting and training, or in booking me as a guest speaker within your yoga teacher training, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Research Collaboration
I am a clinician-researcher with a passionate interest in yoga and other mind-body interventions, and how they can improve psychological therapy outcomes.
My postgraduate research thesis explored the acceptability of yoga therapy for anxiety and depression. I have since been in clinical research, providing psychological therapy and iRest Yoga Nidra group programs to people with persistent pain in various settings, using various research methodologies.
I have published peer-reviewed journal articles about the first-hand experience and benefits of iRest Yoga Nidra in persistent pain care, through my role as a Clinical Psychologist in a public pain management service, in collaboration with the Deakin University School of Psychology. You can access my publications here.
If you are interested in a research collaboration for psychological or yoga research, please get in touch via email.
Important to Know
I work with a diverse group of supervisees and consultees. I can provide:
Clinical Supervision to registered Psychologists, Psychotherapists and Counsellors
Individual and facilitated peer group supervision to various Allied Health Professionals, particularly Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Osteopaths, Physiotherapists and Speech Therapists, as well as Midwives
Case consultations to just about anyone, including Art, Music, Equine and Yoga Therapists, Somatic Experiencing Practitioners and Coaches
Please be aware that I do not currently provide clinical supervision to provisional psychologists, registrars, students on placement in an accredited higher degree program, or psychologists completing a re-entry or transitional programs.
I believe my role as a clinical supervisor has three key responsibilities:
Educational and Formative: Most of us didn’t learn much about the practical treatment of people with complex trauma, persistent pain and other somatic complaints in our training. These are big topics, and there is a lot to learn! I can teach you about pain science and trauma theory, we can collaboratively review your case conceptualisations, diagnostic impressions and refine specific interventions you are offering your clients such as CBT and EMDR, including integrating parts-work, somatic and mind-body techniques.
Gatekeeping and Normative: We are therapists - not lawyers. However, for Psychologists at least, we are held to the highest of ethical standards and have professional and legal obligations in providing a regulated health service. We can discuss the ethical dilemmas that naturally arise in the work and ensure your compliance with the Psychology Board of Australia’s Code of Conduct (which replaced the APS Code of Ethics as the profession’s regulatory framework in 2025), as well as Australian Law. This can be a confusing and overwhelming part of our practice but I can help you implement and maintain best practice ethical and legal compliance, so you can feel secure and safe in your work and focus your energy on what you most enjoy about you practice.
Relational and Restorative: There can be an emotional toll of practice, especially if we have not understood and established our own professional boundaries and areas of competence well. Clinical supervision can be one of the most important investments you can make in preventing burnout and safely exploring how your personal history might impact your clinical work (personalisation), as well as the complex and continuous therapeutic dynamics of transference and countertransference. I aim to offer a soft place to land for all of my supervisees, and to both practically help and deeply nurture you and your practice.
I currently have availability for new supervisees and consultees via Telehealth. For Clinical and Peer Supervision we might mutually agree to meet on a 2, 4, 6 or 8 week basis, for example. Case consultations might not have a regular meeting time and hence, may have to wait until I have availability.
Our 50 minute sessions start with a check in and mutual agreement on the aim or intention for the session. We have around 30 minutes or so to work on the clinical question, case conceptualisation, theraputic technique, ethical dilemma or reflective process you have brought to discuss with me. The way we work it will depend, but I like to offer opportunities experiential learning and deliberate practice of new skills, for those that are interested. I also tend to recommend further reading or training, to those who are looking for more.
I am committed to best practice, which includes concluding our supervision or consult with an opportunity for you to reflect and consolidate what you have learned, including actionable steps you’ll take. I also allow enough time to ask you for feedback about the process of supervision, including what I might do differently next time to better accommodate your learning style, for example. I am very experienced receiving and really appreciate honest feedback, so you can get the most out of our time together.
Please be aware that I do not provide supervision to provisional psychologists, registrars, students on placement in an accredited higher degree program, or psychologists completing a re-entry or transitional program in my private practice.
I cannot guarantee that any hours undertaken within a supervision or consultation agreement will be recognised by any registration board, professional association or other body, for continuing professional development, supervision, registration, endorsement, accreditation or any other purpose. So please determine with your own professional body, the requirements as to the qualifications, membership, registration, and so forth required for recognition of hour of supervision, before contacting me to arrange supervision or consultation.
You can find a list of my qualifications and professional memberships in my About Me page to help you determine whether any hours of supervision or consultation with me could be recognised for your desired purposes.
My consulting fee for clinical supervision, individual and facilitated peer group supervision, case consultations, consulting and training is a flat rate of $220 per appointment (or hour).
